In this shoot we wanted to replicate the Big Hair, Big Make-up, Bad Girl, Tuff Chick look that was so prevalent in the late 1950's through the 1960's. Every high school across the nation has a different demographic, but in California this female rebel yell was spearheaded by the Hispanic girls. They were the fashion trendsetters for this Hair Spray-Hair Bear look, which was a derivative from low-rider car culture. With their wicked cat-eyed winged eyeliner and tight pencil skirts to accentuate their figures, this sub-culture fashion statement was way ahead of its time.
Years later this radical look became the forerunner to the Punk Rock aesthetic of the 1980's, fashion and popularized by such bands as the B-52's. Hope you enjoy it.
